Pacific Political Science Student Debates on the Big Stage

News10.net | Sacramento, California | Local News Good People – Stockton’s Great Debaters

Ty-Licia Hooker, a first-year Political Science at Pacific, and her teammates Michael Tubbs and Matthew Miller (who are attending some school in Palo Alto) won the national debate competition sponsored by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The debate, held in Cincinnati during the NAACP’s national convention in July, was on the topic of national health care.  You can watch the NAACP’s webcast of the debate here. If the speaker who followed Ty-Licia and her teammates on stage paid attention, it may help him in a debate he has coming up in a few weeks. It was the junior senator from Illinois, Barack Obama.

Check out this video about Ty-Licia Hooker and her debate partners.
