Seniors Present Poster Session
On May 3, the 28 students in the department’s senior capstone course presented their research projects in a poster session. The poster session was held in beautiful new Community Room in the University Library. This was the first time the department has used a poster session for the presentation of senior research projects.
Academic conferences increasingly use poster sessions as a medium for researchers to present their papers. Posters are used to summarize papers that researchers have written. The authors stand by their posters and discuss their projects with students and scholars who circulate around the session venue. Political Science and Library faculty and a number of junior Political Science majors made their ways around the Community Room scrutinizing and evaluating the seniors’ projects.
Students and department faculty both enjoyed using a Poster Session to present senior research projects. The Library faculty were pleased to have their new facility employed for this celebration of the seniors’ work.
The Political Science Department plans to continue Senior Capstone Poster Sessions. We anticipate that next year we will have juried prize for the best poster presentation.
